This Mortal Life Creative Workshops
How often do you give yourself time for creative endeavours? When’s the last time you made something or tried a new hobby?
As I wrote in Creating Together: How Shared Making Builds Connection and BelongingThe act of making something: writing, stitching, collaging, painting, etc. engages parts of us that don’t always speak in clear sentences. Creativity allows our interior world to surface without needing to explain or justify it. It’s a language of colour, shape and texture that often feels safer, especially when touching on grief, identity, memory or endings.
It brings me a great deal of joy to bring people together for creative exploration, and I’m so pleased to announce the following creative workshops I’ll be offering in 2026. This page will be updated as new opportunities are announced.
This Mortal Life Craft & Chat at Weston Artspace
I’m thrilled to announce this new monthly, evening drop in session for those who enjoy creative prompts and conversation.
Bring your own project to work on at our Craft & Chat or take part in a collaborative community art project for the Good Grief Festival exhibition in October, entitled ‘52 Meditations on Mortality’. Through the summer we’ll be transforming a full deck of playing cards through art, reflection, and conversation.
Each session will include optional memento mori themed prompts to inspire your creativity and designs.
Use whatever creative medium you enjoy: painting, collage, embroidery, drawing, mixed media, poetry or something entirely your own.
A selection of various supplies, collage magazines, scissors and paint pens will be available for everyone to use, but please bring your own preferred materials if you wish.
No artistic experience needed. Just come make things alongside other people. Drop in 6-9pm on the second Thursday of the month starting Thursday 11th June at Weston Artspace at The Quarry.
Free to Artspace members, pay what you decide for non-members (cash and digital payments accepted). No signup required, just turn up!

Creativity, Connection & Living with Intention
Join us to learn about This Mortal Life and to create a small personal anchor, a simple reminder of what matters, made by you. What does it mean to live with intention in the midst of everyday life? How can small rituals help is be more present? In this relaxed and reflective Show & Share, Esther Hall of This Mortal Life introduces her work creating spaces for creativity, connection, and intentional living.
Rooted in the idea that small, meaningful rituals can help us feel more present and connected, this session offers a gentle invitation to pause and reflect on what truly matters to you. You’ll be guided through a short exercise to explore what you personally value and want to make space for more of in your daily life and create your own small personal anchor, a small reminder in the form of a decorated stone. This is a simple, creative practice you can take home with you: a reminder to stay connected to what matters most, even in the busyness of day-to-day life. Spaces are limited and free to Artspace members.
